vipVertisys Infrastructure Protection (VIP)
What is VIP?

VIP (Vertisys Infrastructure Protection) is a comprehensive set of tools and mechanisms to proactively manage your network infrastructure. VIP is divided into two levels of monitoring and management. VIP Level I - Manage and deploy Windows Operating System (“OS”) patches, hot fixes and security updates as well as Symantec virus definitions and program updates to servers on your network on a daily basis, if necessary. VIP Level I allows network administrators to offload daily backup maintenance and auditing to free up time for more critical issues. If you have purchased yearly maintenance on your backup software or antivirus software, we will update your system as part of VIP level I enrollment. VIP level II – Complete proactive management of mission critical network devices, systems and applications. Our coverage includes but is not limited to, Microsoft Exchange server, Cisco routers, Blackberry Enterprise server or Oracle SQL server, just to name a few. Once installed, we can efficiently monitor measure and forecast systems availability as well as issue dynamic trouble ticketing.

Why Do I Need VIP?
Most network administrators do not have the time or manpower to deploy workstation and server patches on a timely basis. Vertisys can handle this time-consuming chore by deploying these patches on off-peak hours. Also, as in the case of the 32.Blaster.Worm” virus, we can react much quicker to OS vulnerabilities released by Micro-soft to limit potential damage by would-be attackers. Wouldn’t it be nice to come in to the office and receive an email from Vertisys notifying you that we have ordered a replacement hard drive to replace the defective one that failed over the weekend? By utilizing the software that is shipped with your HP server, Vertisys can deliver state of the art hardware monitoring at a very affordable price. VIP Level I helps facilitate quick response to backup related issues and allows true “peace of mind” knowing that the backup is being checked and verified every day. VIP Level II allows you to increase the productivity of your IT investments by maximizing performance, minimizing downtime, limiting risk, and providing lower day-to-day operating costs. At the very least our monitoring of systems and applications minimizes remediation time by eliminating initial troubleshooting tasks. For a minimal cost, Vertisys can leverage the power of VIP Level II and allow your internal IT department to “turn over the keys” to our staff for weekend and holiday monitoring and management.

How Does VIP Work?
VIP Level I does not require any special hardware to be added to your network. We utilize existing Microsoft and Symantec technologies to manage and deploy patches, definitions and updates. Our “Master” server automatically downloads updates from Microsoft and “queues” the updates for rollout. Our engineers verify and test the updates to be sure they are applicable to your environment and deploy as necessary. VIP Level I utilizes your existing email system to send daily backup status reports. If a problem with your backup exists, our engineers connect remotely, verify the source of the problem and take action. If an on-site visit is needed our service coordinator will contact you to schedule a service call as soon as possible. VIP Level II uses a relay agent to forward network critical information to our monitoring system at our offices in Marietta, Ga. Each critical component of your system is uniquely defined and monitored 24x7. In the event of a system outage we are notified via email what component has failed and by applying best practices methodology, we are able to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Because VIP Level II utilizes a web based technology, you can monitor your own system securely from home or office.

How Does VIP Affect My System Performance and End-Users?
We realize that in this day and age downtime during normal business hours is unacceptable so we schedule updates on workstations to happen during login to minimize the impact the end-users. Server patches occur after hours during your allocated “maintenance window” unless a “critical” patch needs to be applied immediately to avoid potential OS exploits. System performance is not affected at all as the service required does not need many resources to function. The only resource necessary to run this product is about 1.5 GB of free disk space on any available server. VIP Level I does require an "agent" on each monitored Windows server. The resources needed for each agent is minimal and will not effect overall system performance.
